Many of you have asked me a post about the different forms of the body and how to enhance them. However, before going to the heart of the matter, I thought: "can you recognize your body shape?" Don't worry if the answer is no, in today's article we'll see some simple steps to identify it :D

INTRODUCTION

There are 5 body shapes:
  • Rectangle
  • Triangle
  • Inverted triangle
  • Apple
  • Hourglass
Obviously, there are variations of them; precisely for this reason, it's difficult to recognize your own body shape. Each type, however, has some key points which help to identify it. In addition, I'll reveal you a trick I used for this purpose at the end of this post ;) So take note for the various steps: by connecting all of them, you'll be able to see your shape :D

1.PROPORTIONS

Body shapes can be categorized into two sections: proportionate and disproportionate ones; what does this mean? It means there is a difference in width between shoulders and hips (disproportionate) or not (proportionate). Once you'll have understood which group you belong to, you'll have already done a "skimming" :) Let's see in details:
  • Proportionate figures - rectangle, apple and hourglass
  • Disproportionate figures - triangle and inverted triangle: the shoulders of the first one are narrower than the hips, the second ones are the opposite.
Then, positioned in front of the mirror (preferably in underwear) you have to check the size of your shoulders and hips: which category do you belong to?

2.EXTRA POUNDS

After having established the first point, let's move on to the second one: where do you tend to accumulate extra pounds?

Proportionate figures:
  • The rectangle is the most fortunate shape among all of them, 'cause it tends not to put on weight easily. If it does, fat is distributed in a uniform way, so practically it can't be seen;
  • Apple accumulates fat in the thoracic and abdominal area, mainly on the belly and the back;
  • Hourglass gets fat everywhere, which isn't necessarily a disadvantage! If it puts on a few pounds it's also hard to notice it.
Disproportionate figures:
  • Triangle accumulates mostly below the hips, so unluckily, butt and thighs;
  • Inverted triangle, on the contrary, puts on weight from the waist up, that is, breast and arms.
Were you able to identify which is the area where you mostly accumulate?

3.ESTABLISH YOUR WAIST POINT

The waist is another useful key point in order to recognize your body shape. We can, therefore, make a further division:
  • Marked waistline: hourglass, triangle, inverted triangle;
  • Not marked waistline: rectangle and apple
Stand in front of the mirror again: is your waist point evident or not?

4.ANALYZE YOUR THIGHS

Since you're still looking at your reflection, let's take the opportunity to better observe your thighs. Here too, subsections:
  • Curvy thighs and curved sideways (we could say protruding): hourglass and triangle;
  • Thin and slender thighs, straight on the side: rectangle, apple and inverted triangle.
It's a pretty obvious feature, I'm sure you've immediately identified it :)

5.LITTLE BONUS!

Summing up and connecting together all the characteristics we've seen, you should have been able to figure out which body shape you're in :) However, if you still have any doubts, I'll give you a little secret I found on the web, especially on  Moda Per Principianti. It's a beautiful post I suggest you to read!

In principle, I was very undecided about my shape, I didn't know if I was an hourglass or a triangle; so the secret is: look at the belly! In fact, this two shapes have a difference in it: hourglass, when puts on weight, has a very marked waistline, so it gets fat above and below the navel, creating two kinds of "rolls" (as happened to me); triangle, on the other hand, puts fat only from the navel downwards, leaving the waistline marked anyway, but the abdomen (at the stomach level), remains rather flat.

Come Toglierti Ogni Dubbio Sulla Forma Del Tuo Corpo

  • Figure proporzionate - rettangolo, mela e clessidra

2.KG IN ECCESSO

Figure proporzionate:
  • il rettangolo è la forma più fortunata di tutte, perchè tende a non ingrassare facilmente, e se lo fa, distribuisce il tutto in maniera così uniforme che praticamente non si vede;
  • la mela accumula il grasso nella zona toracica e addominale, prevalentemente su pancia e schiena;
Figure sproporzionate:
  • il triangolo accumula per lo più dai fianchi in giù, quindi purtroppo, sedere e cosce;

  • Punto vita accentuato: clessidra, triangolo, triangolo invertito;

  • Cosce formose e curve lateralmente (potremmo dire sporgenti): clessidra e triangolo invertito;

The 80s Fashion Myth

This year, Fall/Winter fashion is returning to the 80s, so neon colours, maxi shoulder pads and, of course, sequins in plenty! I don't get along very well with this revival, 'cause I've never loved the period's trend. So how can I integrate a bit of fashion into my daily life while remaining coherent with my style? Today I'll explain to you how I did it! :D
Sneakers - Yoins*

80's

You know, the eighties are the years of excess, extra colours, extra sparkle, extra in everything! Shortly, that isn't me at all. I love the dainty style, both in terms of shades and shapes. When fashion pulled the latest trends out of the time machine, I was flabbergasted: I felt immediately cut off! I thought, therefore, how to integrate into my being some little details inspired by the 80s; in the end, the answer is simple: stay in the middle. Sure if you like this style and you're comfortable with a full paillettes dress or an animal printed one, it's perfect! But if you're like me, you'll have some trials.

Choker - She In*

1.DRAW ATTENTION TO A SINGLE DETAIL

If you wear a maxi shoulder pads top, go basic with the rest of the outfit; on the contrary, pair shining trousers with a simple-shaped blouse, e.g.. So, try to build your own look according to your body without giving too much prominence to the upper part over the bottom one, and vice-versa.
2.DON'T MIX TOO MANY COLOURS

Do you really like those animal printed boots or that shocking pink bag? Then wear them! But not together. If you don't wanna be too flashy, keep a minimal style with the rest of the look, maybe monochromatic, in order to make only your super fashion boots stand out :)

>>> Since many of you asked me for an article about body shapes and how to enhance them, I'm working on 5 different posts. This will be a miniseries which I'll publish once a week :) The first one will be released very soon, so stay connected ;)
3.BALANCE YOUR STYLE

Add a single flashy item to a street/sporty style. In this way, it will never be too much! Be careful, however, about the way you combine everything: if you wanna pair an over preppy top with sports trousers, they may not be suitable for each other. Be sure to make your outfit always pleasant.

4.DON'T OVERDO IT

The general rule to always feel at ease is not to overdo! Don't wear a full neon outfit for work, or really high pumps under a short cheetah printed dress: you may result too aggressive.
5.BE ALWAYS YOURSELF!

If you like the 80s fashion, you're the Cindy Lauper #1 fan or you just wanna dress as in those years, what's the problem? Wear what you love to wear and don't bother about what people would say! The style is personal and the way you look is your being, don't forget it. Style contains in itself what you want to communicate with your image. Just try to adapt to the environment you're in, for example workplace, where you usually must be more formal.

On the contrary, if you totally hate this kind of trends, whatever! You don't have to own a "must-have" to be someone! A self-confident person is the coolest in the world, whatever clothes he wears ;)
