Monochromatic or fancy, white or neon coloured, the t-shirt is a staple in your wardrobe, a must-have you need to own, because they can be worn basically for any occasion in a more or less formal way. Did you know there is a t-shirt suitable for each of us?

COMFY AND PRACTICAL

The t-shirt isn't a purely summer or spring item; on the contrary, it can also be used in a layered way for winter and fall outfits. Its comfort and practicality are the characteristics that make it a must-have. I challenge you to find a wardrobe which is devoid of it, especially in recent times: printed and logoed t-shirts are widely used; the so-called grapich tees are really trendy!

TYPES

You can find lots of them, with different prints and designs; you are basically spoiled for choice. However, this can sometimes put you in troubles! For example, I haven't always been a great fan of tees, I didn't think they're suitable to my physique. Recently I realized that each of us has her own kind of t-shirt, according to her own body shape.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT ONE FOR YOU

Let's take a few examples: the v-neck t-shirt is perfect for those who have a florid breast, while the polo is the right choice for those who have a smaller chest. If you have wide shoulders it's better to avoid round necklines, which tend to enlarge the figure: in fact, these kind of necklines look good on those who have small shoulders, as well as the boat necks. If you have large hips (just like me) try to choose soft fabrics which accompany your shape; on the contrary, if you want to enhance your waist point, opt for a slightly fitted t-shirt, but be careful to extra pounds: this kind of fit could highlight flaws rather than qualities.

THE FABRIC

The fabric is the most important thing! There are shirts made of synthetic fabrics, which are usually more stretchy, but they have the defect of not letting the skin breathe (and in summer it could be a problem); on the other hand, there are those in natural cotton, which are soft but less stretchy than the first ones (but perfect during this time of the year!)

ADAPTABILITY

However, the t-shirt is essential especially for those who love minimalism and capsule wardrobe, because you can recreat many different outfits with it, from the most casual, like streetwear, to the most classic ones, like an office look wearing a tee under a blazer. I'd like to talk more about it in one of the next posts :)

Ciò Che Tutte Dovrebbero Sapere - Scegli La T-shirt Giusta

Read this post in English

UPDATE: Why The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Is Actually Good For Your Wallet
This post will be regularly updated during the event

It's definitely the best deal of the year, the event we all look forward to. We are excited since June for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and we feel like we're waiting for Christmas. It's basically already here, soon you'll be able to shop thanks to the early access!

This post contains affiliate links! If you buy something from those links, you don't pay a penny more, but I'll get a small commission, which helps me keeping the board afloat. Thank you!

NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE

Why this is my fave event of the year? Because I love to shop in advance, and the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale gives me the chance to buy lots of items for Fall with major sales... since July! It's. The. Paradise. I'm talking about 50-75% off (even more in some cases), so you'll have a full shopping cart at a reasonable price, just as I like it. Basically, it's like I'm waiting for the start of a marathon where I'm one of the runners.

SAVE THE DATES

The sales will start on July 19th, and will end on August 4th, but there's an early access on July 12th. I highly recommend to participate in the early access 'cause during the sales, products go sold out very easily, so the last few days you might not be able to grab what you aimed for. I even struggled to write this article 'cause the website was continuously overload! How to get early access? You have to apply for the Nordstrom credit card in order to shop in advance. The application is simple and it's definitely worth it, you'll have so many benefits with this credit/debit card: you can read here if you want all the details.

WHAT TO BUY

Let's talk honestly: there is a moment during the year - sometimes even more than a single one - when you need to do some shopping. This moment comes for everyone, there's no escape. The Nordstrom Anniversary sale is the right moment to respond to this need, because you can shop almost everything with major sales. I'm talking about home decor, beauty products and, obviously, fashion items. You'll find lots of Summer stuff on sale, but I suggest you to keep an eye on fall items because - you know what I'm thinking - this is the right time to shop for them.

BROWSE THE CATALOGUE

If you wanna take a look at the catalogue, you can browse it below, but keep in mind that the products in it will become available for purchase starting from July 12th if you have the opportunity to shop in early access; if not, from July 19th.

Beginner-Proof Method To Enhance The Hourglass Body Shape

We have come to the end of this body shapes' series, this last post is dedicated to the Hourglass. (it may not be the last, actually... who knows?!) If you would like to read about a specific topic in the next series, send me an email or comment this post :) Anyway, I remind you that here you'll find a method to recognize your body shape in a few and very simple steps

INTRODUCTION

I left the Hourglass for the last post because it's also my body shape :P It's the most balanced form, with shoulders and hips of the same width and a narrow and marked waist. The chest is broad and the backside is usually protruding, with chubby legs. It's a buttery and shapely figure, and when an Hourglass gains a few pounds, she does so evenly all over the body. Sometimes it's a good thing, sometimes not, in my opinion: I took a lot of weight, so there's not a part of my body that isn't visibly fleshy and I can't hide my plumpness that much. However, if you enhance the right points, it's not all lost :D

This shape doesn't need to redistribute the proportions when she dresses up, because she already has everything she needs in the right places, so if you're an Hourglass, you only have to keep the volumes steady both in the lower part and in the upper part of the body. There's no point to hide, but only one to enhance: the Hourglass strenght is the waist. So, if you have this body shape, get rid of all the oversized clothes you own and choose to dress yourself with all those snug items in soft fabrics; obviously, waisted dresses are your best allies. The deep neckline also suits you, so let's uncover your décolleté! I just want to give you some advice to keep in mind: your shapes are accentuated, so avoid too sexy stuff, such as super short miniskirts, animal prints (unless it's just a detail) and too-tight dresses.

STRETCHY DRESS

>>>If you wanna support me, subscribe to the newsletter here! P.S. Are you a blogger too? I have a proposal for you, come and see it :)

The stretchy dress in soft fabric is the one that suits you the best, as it makes you look wonderful and emphasizes your wasp waistline. Be careful though, it's better not to choose a dress too tight and short because, especially if you're shapely, it could look gross.

WRAP DRESS

The wrap dress is also good for you, because it highlights both the wasp waistline and the neckline at the same time.

SHOP

50S DRESS

Sources: Pinterest // Juliette Guénon

This type of dress, also known as "hourglass", naturally accompanies your shapes: it's flared at the bottom and has a tight waistline. The clothes that suits you the best are those which leave the décolleté uncovered.

SHOP

JUMPSUIT
Source: Pinterest
 >>>In the menu bar there's the sales section :)

The jumpsuit is another item that gives you perfection, both elegant and casual ones. You can find them in different types: I recommend those with wide legs or flared ones that end at the ankle height. Pay attention to the latter kind: if you're as short as me, it's better to pair them with high heels. If you're tall, you can also match them with sneakers or flat sandals. If you have tapered legs, those with cigarette pants are great too :)

SHOP

TOP

Source: Pinterest
Let's start saying that you have to get rid of all those oversized tops, sweaters and tees that make you look shapeless. The Hourglass is a shapely figure and sometimes she can feel embarassed because of her full breast, but she doesn't have to! Let's remember that she's a proportionate shape, so if her breast is florid, she only has to enhance it in the right way. Soft, not too deep V-necks are definitely fine, and tops both in regular and long fit, as long as they're waisted. The crop top looks good on you too! If you don't feel at ease wearing it, you can pair it with a kimono, a blazer or an overcoat.

SHOP

SKIRT
Sources: Fashion Behind The Seams // Pinterest

In all cases, the knee lenght is the preferred one, as is the high waist to emphasize your strenght point. The two kind of skirt that surely look better on you are the circle one, which is the classic 50s skirt, and the pencil one, which wraps hips and thighs in a great way. It's better to avoid too short skirts: unfortunately, minis aren't suitable for your body shape, or rather, it's really easy to fall into excess when choosing a miniskirt.

SHOP

PANTS
Source: Pinterest

Girl, I know very well the struggle to find the perfect pair of pants. Usually, those that are good on the waist, are tight on the hips, and those that fit well on the hips, are loose on the waist... I know it well! So, I suggest you to choose always stretchy kind of pants and above all, high waisted ones. Both wide legs stuff and flared trousers look great on you, and if you're quite thin you can also opt for cigarette ones, skinny pants and leggings (the latter ones have to be paired with a top which covers your backside). Speaking about jeans, bootcuts look lovely on you! I recommend you to avoid capri pants unless you're tall and have thin ankles; in any case, never wear boyfriend jeans and low-slung trousers because they don't suit you so well.

SHOP

JACKET
Sources: Fashion Jackson // Pinterest
When you shop, look for belted items: they're perfect in order to accentuate the waist, like trench coats. Speaking about short jacket, the shaped one accompanies your figure and enhances your forms to the fullest!

SHOP

To recap:

  • Enhance the waist point, because it's the Hourglass strenght
  • Try to not create disproportions: it's a proportionate figure, so keep the same volumes both in the lower and in the upper parts of the body
  • Emphasize the décolleté with soft, but not too deep neckline
  • When in doubt, wear a dress
  • Jeans, pants or skirt have to be high waisted
  • Oversized items: a big NO!
  • Midi-skirts have the best lenght for the Hourglass shape; speaking about trousers instead, the longer they are, the better, unless your ankles are very thin.

Metodo Per Principianti Per Valorizzare il Fisico A Clessidra

Read this post in English

E adesso, veniamo a noi!

PREMESSA

GONNA

Fonte: Fashion Behind The Seams // Pinterest

GIACCA

Fonte: Fashion Jackson // Pinterest

  • Assolutamente no ai capi oversize!

Harajuku Style Clothing - Japanese Street Fashion Culture

Japanese street fashion has always fascinated me, especially concerning Harajuku alternative style. This style is varied and constantly evolving and it's very difficult to define it because it often changes its characteristics, even if the basics remain the same. Let's start from the beginning: where does Harajuku Japanese fashion style come from and what is it?

HARAJUKU

The Harajuku fashion name comes from its geographical origin: Harajuku is an area in Tokyo, near Shibuya, and it's defined as the district of fashion and teen trends. There are two main roads there: Takeshita Dori, where you can find a lot of gadget shops and curiosities, and Omotesando, full of high fashion boutiques like Tod's and Prada. In fact, the Harajuku style is a mix of traditional Japanese and Western cultures: the result is a variety of colours, overlays, very bold makeups and unique hairstyles. Walking around this district is a wonderful experience, and it's definitely on my bucket list!

Harajuku's view at night

JAPANESE HARAJUKU STYLE BASICS

  1. The first thing to do to be on point is to mix different styles, designs and colours: dressing like a Harajuku girl is an art and every outfit has a very specific study behind it, although there's the (totally wrong) belief that pairings are randomly made.
  2. Another key point is to dress in layers, and this doesn't only mean to add a cardigan or a blazer over a t-shirt, but also overlapping tees on dresses with leggings underneath, and a large amount of frills in between.
  3. The Harajuku girls are great with DIY. They seldom wear something they have purchased, as just as it is. Customization is one of this style's bases, so make yourself as creative as you can and bring out your fantasy.
  4. Accessories make the difference and they're very important, almost more than clothes. The more, the better! Bracelets, necklaces, bags, pins, socks and rainbow stockings are part of the outfits and don't forget to pair the right hair accessories.
  5. Speaking of hair, hairstyle and makeup must also be eye-catching. Pigtails, buns, flashy colours, you name it!
  6. You must be yourself. This is the last key point on which the Harajuku is based. What people say doesn't matter! If you feel like a unicorn, became a unicorn! Do you want to wear a neon yellow leggings under a neon green dress? You can do it, as long as you feel at ease! The more unique, the more suitable you are for this kind of street style.

SUBCULTURES

The Harajuku style list is huge and can't be defined in a single category because it presents a long series of subcultures, and the most loved is surely the Lolita one (which also have various categories in it). This kind of fashion is based on the Victorian and Rococo styles' characteristics.

Note: Images source: Pinterest

Classic Lolita

This style is the most mature among the Lolita's categories: it's sophisticated and sober, both in colours and patterns, as well as for accessories and makeup.

Sweet Lolita

The word itself says it, it's the sweet and cute side of Lolita's fashion. Colours, patterns and accessories are rather childish: bonnets, bows, ribbons and frills are very appreciated for this style.

Gothic Lolita

The Gothic influence can be seen starting from dark colours. A special mention goes to accessories with religious symbolism, or even in a bat, coffin, spider shape and so on. The makeup is also dark, but not too strong. Parasols, top hats, bows and ribbons in the hair are widely used.

Punk Lolita

This is a mix of punk and lolita styles: they match studs, ties and torn clothes to the sweetness of Lolita fashion; skirts are usually shorter then the ones used in the Lolita style and they're often asymmetrical.

>>>In the menu bar there's the sales section :)

OTHER STYLES

There are many other styles which fall in the Harajuku category, not just the Lolita one! The most common are these below.

Cosplay

It's so common to find cosplayer around the streets in Japan that cosplay can be defined as a street style in all respects. Who doesn't have a fave character which is part of the comics / manga, anime or video games world? Being a cosplayer means interpreting that character from the way of dressing, to the way of acting.

Ganguro

The ganguro style has rather kitsch characteristics: tanned skin (almost an orage complexion), hair coloured in bright and bold shades, such as yellow, silver and pink, often voluminously styled. The makeup is very strong and the outfit is made up of very high wedges, skimpy dresses and flashy accessories - let's say that they're quite noticeable. Ganguro are often considered in a negative way, as they are the opposite of the beauty's prototype in Japanese culture.

Decora

This style was born in the 90s and it's characterized by an unrestrained use of accessories: they wear so many of them to make noise when they walk. How to choose the right accessories? Well, if they're for children, they're perfect. The main colour is pink 'cause it's the "kawaii" shade, which means "cute".

Take a closer look at the Decora style in the video below

Bosozoku

It's the aggressive style associated with motorcycle gangs, the classic unsavory boys; the outfit is made up of a sort of uniform with prints and slogans on it, jacket and baggy pants.

It's not uncommon, however, to find different combinations of these styles around the Tokyo's streets, the clothes are unique and original, so there's never an outfit identical to another one, the code word is personality!
