Maybe you're reading this blog post intrigued by what a "go-to outfit" actually is, or maybe you know that, but wanna know its secret: anyway, I'll please you immediately! Well, there are different types of outfit, for example formal, office, workout ones, but the look we're talking about today falls in a separate category. Let's see it!
Shortly, a go-to outfit is that kind of look you could use in many occasions, everyday! Let's face it, you don't always have time to change clothes whenever you go out, so you have to own some items which, matched in a right and fast way, allow you to be "appropriate" to various circumstances during the day and especially everyday, without having to think too much about them (unless a dress code is required at the workplace). Here I'll show you mine :)
I prefer a shirt to a t-shirt. We should all have a couple of them, colour plain, that can easily be paired without too much effort. The classic white one is not among my faves, 'cause I get tired of it after a while, so I go with colours like silver (this one I'm wearing in the pics) or some neutral tone, like beige. The same applies to fabrics: if you're traditional the cotton is great; chiffon or satin if you're a romantic soul :)
Maybe you're thinking of trousers, but I prefer jeans! They're more modern and versatile then their classic cousins and, let's say it, denim pants are the best! They can become super-stylish or super-sporty, it depends on how you pair them, and I really like this feature. Anyway, for my go-to outfit, I stayed in between: both in terms of colour and fit, I didn't overdo :)
Ok, since I bought it, this teddy coat has definitely become my best friend for any occasion! To be honest, I don't go for too simple overcoat, they bore me, so I always tend to buy clothes which have something to be noticed. A jacket like this is fine for my daily outfit because it's warm, cozy and easily matchable due to its colour; these are all the features an item must have in order to wear it without going crazy :)
Boots. STOP. And I say it honestly! Sneakers can't be worn at work (it's different if you go to school), and let's face the reality, even though some pumps can have comfortable heels, it's difficult to keep them all day long: I think of wearing them a thousand of times before doing it, so absolutely no to the pumps for a go-to outfit, haha! Boots, on the other hand, can be worn almost in every occasion. The over the knee ones are very popular at the moment, and if you have thin legs they're just perfect for you (my calf muscles are just like David Beckham ones, so I can't find a pair that fits well both feet and legs, alas!)
Comfort and right capacity are the things that matter. I have a lot of bags, but some have too short handles, others are too small and all I need during the day doesn't fit in them (only my wallet is as big as a Gucci Marmont); the one in the pics is absolutely my go-to bag! I don't think twice of wearing it, especially when I'm in a hurry and I don't have time to make particular combo.
Less is more. It's my motto! It's still cold here so I never leave home without a hat, and you're never wrong with a beanie; the necklace is definitely one of my fave accessories and I'll explain the reason why: sometimes, bracelets and rings bother me if I have to spend much time writing on the keyboard or I have to do some houseworks, unless they're really thin. The necklace simply doesn't bother me! So these two items surely are included into my daily outfit!
>>>I was thinking to start a series about the various kind of outfit (formal, work, etc...), after finishing the body shape one; what do you think about it? If you have any suggestion, email me! I'm always happy to talk with you :)
SO, WHAT'S THE SECRET?
COMFORT! You need to be comfortable for a successful go-to outfit: all these items have in common the "nonchalance" of being worn, I mean that you shouldn't think too much about wearing them or not. I see a lot of girls with breakneck or very thin heels, and they say that "They're comfy! I wear them every day!" Don't know, but for me it would be a torture! Of course, this doesn't mean leaving the house with a pajamas-like dress (remember the dress code at the workplace, haha), but I'm sure that with a bit of good style taste you'll find your comfy clothes and match them perfectly for your every day look :)
