The Met Gala 2019 edition was held last month on May 6th, as every year. What is it? It's simply the coolest charity event of the year. It's the inaugural evening of the exhibition organized by the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Costume Institute, that will remain open until September 8th. Where does it take place? In New York, of course! Among the stars who paraded on the 2019 Met Gala red carpet are Cardi B, Lady Gaga, Bella Hadid, Benedict Cumberbatch, Celine Dion, the evening's "Cinderella" Zendaya, Dua Lipa, Donatella Versace, D Wade, Emily Ratajkowski, Emma Roberts, Emma Stone, Ezra Miller, Emma Watson, but not only them! The important guests who attend to the ball every year are over 500! Are you ready to see the VIPs dramatic looks at the "Camp"? :)
THE CAMP
The event had many themes from the first edition to the latter, including Punk: Chaos to Couture, Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy and The House of Chanel. This year "Camp: Note on fashion" is the chosen theme and the exhibition features over 200 pieces including art works and fashion and design items: it's titled in honor of the Susan Sontang essay that she wrote in 1964. She coined the term camp, from French se camper, which means "to show off ostentatiously". So, this show is a tribute to theatricality and extravagance, to excess and kitsch. Their outfits look really amazing! I love Lady Gaga's dramatic entrance although I don't think it went along with the theme... just like many of their outfits. On a side note, I think the theme this year was also hard! I would have had a hard time picking my outfit too if I were them.
